Two New Vitamin A's Have Arrived At AST

At AST, we take great pride in delivering products with high efficacy and remain very committed to innovation and leveraging the latest ingredient technology. We are excited to announce the launch of Advanced Skin Technology’s new Aspect and Aspect Dr A products.

As therapists, we all understand the value of incorporating retinoids into a skincare regime. The benefits to our client’s skin are numerous, and the demand for A’s is stronger than ever. We recognized the need to offer a tailored approach so we could provide solutions for all skin types.

The Retinoid Breakdown

Retinoids such as retinyl esters, retinol and retinaldehyde (retinal) need to undergo biotransformation within the skin to become the active form of retinoic acid, which can have profound actions within the skin. Retinyl esters (ie; retinyl palmitate) require the most steps to be transformed into retinoic acid followed by retinol, then retinaldehyde which is the direct precursor to retinoic acid. The fewer steps to change, the better efficacy the retinoid will have. The benefit of using retinoic acid precursors is that they are gentler on the skin and have the most negligible side effects, such as dryness and skin sensitivity. (Retinoic acids such as tretinoin are prescription-only products).

No one can deny the benefits retinoids gain in skincare. They offer a wide range of anti-ageing benefits. With continued use, clients can see visibly improved skin tone and texture, reduction in the appearance of wrinkles and hyperpigmentation, regulation of epidermal turnover, as well as reducing oiliness, and clearing of the complexion.

Formulation & Percentages

The subject of concentration or percentage is often brought up by therapists when looking at retinoids in skincare. Still, we always need to remember that the efficacy of these types of products is not always dependent on concentration alone but also on the form, as explained above. Other factors in efficacy are the delivery system in the formula, protection from oxidation, and incorporation of supporting ingredients. A careful selection of active ingredients and formulation expertise is where Aspect and Aspect Dr. A’s stand out.

Aspect Retinol LGS+ and Aspect Dr Hydra A Plus are highly advanced formulas with supportive ingredients such as blue-green algae extract, Willowbark, and Vitamin E that work alongside retinoids to enhance their effects. Adding the new A products to our ranges will provide new options to cater to all skin types and needs.

Let’s have a look at these exciting new products!

3-3
Aspect Retinol LGS+

This product provides a powerful combination of a stabilized triple retinoid complex in an encapsulated delivery system (Retinyl palmitate, Retinol, and Retinal) and encapsulated kojic acid to significantly improve skin tone, texture and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. The presence of phospholipids also improves active ingredient delivery while reinforcing the skin barrier.

Incorporating Lactic, Glycolic, and salicylic acid (LGS) in this formula further boosts the skin renewal effects and enhances the antiaging actions of the retinoids.

The addition of a soothing blend of plant extracts of Willowherb, rice extract, and oat oil calms and soothes skin to minimize potential irritation. A probiotic (lysate) has been added to support the skin’s microbiome, improve the skin barrier and keep the skin’s defences in balance.

A more substantial step up from Aspect’s Retinol Brulee for users ready for a more robust approach.

Aspect Dr Hydra A Plus

The ultimate A cream also contains a milder concentration of our triple retinoid complex; however, efficacy is significantly increased with synergistic retinoid “mimicking” active ingredients for an effective but more gentle approach to skin rejuvenation.
Bakuchiol and a Myristoyl Tripeptide-31 are included to provide retinoic mimicking actions while minimizing sensitivity.

The beauty of this formula is the addition of skin-nurturing emollients such as Sacha inchi oil, rich in linoleic acid and shea butter, as well as powerful antioxidants that protect and support the skin.

This product perfectly caters to those who want the benefits of retinoids but require a more slow and more steady approach due to skin sensitivity or imbalances. Hydra A provides anti-ageing effects such as improvement in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and hyper-pigmentation, with improved elasticity and firmness while supporting the skin.

Aspect Dr. Hydra A is an alternative to Exfol A Plus and is particularly suited to those skins that can’t tolerate AHA’s but are seeking effective anti-ageing results. Aspect Hydra A is the ideal product for photodamaged, sensitive, and blemish-prone skin types.
